RESEARCH RESOURCES
Walter Sisulu University’s researchers have use of a formidable array of resources. These include the Research Resource Centre, funding, access to a host of experienced and National Research Foundation rated researchers as well as an existing databank of previously published work, that is, published articles and inaugural lectures, amongst others.
Research Resource Centre
The Research Resource Centre (RRC), under the Directorate of Research Development, ensures that the implementation of strategic research and development plan for Walter Sisulu University (WSU) is done appropriately.
The Research Resource Centre is intended for the use of all senior postgraduate students and academic staff of the university.
The centre also assists staff and postgraduate students to access internal and external or international funding for further educational qualifications.
WSU Research Resource Centre is a recognised centre for the development of research experts, capable of investigating, understanding and addressing complex societal challenges with critical scholarly and technological attributes, morally sound research ethics, and responsible leadership currently under Mr Nkosinathi Owen Sotshangane, Senior Research Associate.
In pursuit of its vision, the Directorate of Research Development enables:
- Staff to carry out basic, applied, and strategic research with an emphasis on applied research for technological innovation
- That academic and community programs are primarily research driven
- Promotes research programs directed at regional, national and continental development by addressing urban renewal and rural development
- Facilitates the development of research expertise and ensures that ethical and responsible leadership is taken into consideration.
With so many research facilities, viz SPSS, the centre stimulates outputs by providing a research-friendly environment, attracting and keeping high quality staff and students, and in particular, Masters, Doctoral/PhD & Post-doctoral Candidates.
The centre also assists staff and postgraduate students to access internal and external or international funding for further educational qualifications.
The centre also offers access to SPSS, a computer application that provides statistical analysis of data. It allows for in-depth data access and preparation, analytical reporting, graphics and modelling.
