National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) have made funds available to clear historical debt incurred by students who applied and qualified for funding between 2013 and 2015 but did not receive funding due to “insufficient NSFAS funds”. If you are or were a student at Walter Sisulu University and still have outstanding fees from 2013 to 2015, you could qualify to have your fees paid up by NSFAS. Those students who passed their relevant subjects will be eligible for conversion of the loan to bursaries in terms of NSFAS rules.

If you are eligible for debt clearance, you will need to go to the campus where you registered to complete forms and process your debt clearance. Closing date for debt clearance is 30th September 2016. You will continue to be liable to the University for your debt should you not take advantage of this opportunity provided by NSFAS.
