The Centre for Community and International Partnerships (the CCIP) facilitates the implementation of the service-learning programmes (as discussed under Faculty Community Engagement Reports below) and Work-Integrated Learning programmes at WSU.
These conferences, which were adopted by the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT), formed a critical platform for debate around the issues of rural development.
The engagements led to a number key stakeholders partnering with WSU on a number of issues.
Some of the partners were CSIR (for research purposes), EC DEAT (for funding), EC Department of Rural Development, and municipalities such OR Tambo District Municipality, King Sabatha Dalindyebo Municipality and Chris Hani District Municipality, for example.
