South Africa’s former auditor-general Terence Nomembe is the latest leader to be awarded a honorary degree by the University. A honorary degree is one of the highest honours which the University can bestow on a recipient who is deemed to make significant contributions to Eastern Cape and South Africa.  To-date, Walter Sisulu University has granted over 40 honorary degrees.
